The Evelyn F. & William L. McKnight Brain Institute

The Evelyn F. & William L. McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida (MBI-UF) is a leading international center of research and education regarding brain and spine-related diseases.

More than 300 UF faculty are involved with the institute, along with collaborating scientists at more than 65 institutions around the world.

MBI-UF, the world's first all digital, multidisciplinary, university-wide medical research institute, is the home of the world's most powerful imaging research magnets and of a sophisticated computer-driven Human Patient Simulator® used in teaching and research. The institute also is the site of pioneering studies of new drugs for Alzheimer's disease and of nerve tissue transplantation in selected human patients with complicated fluid-filled wounds resulting from spinal cord injury.

UF's Brain Institute faculty have gained acclaim for discoveries related to spinal cord physiology, better identification of problems resulting from traumatic brain injury, the development of better treatments for drug addiction, and refinements in magnetic resonance imaging.
